What to expect on your Street Works course

If the thought of heading back into a classroom frightens you. Rest assured you are not alone.

We get a lot of questions about what to expect from the NRSWA course from those that are nervous, to those that are not academic and those that just want to be prepared.

So we wanted to give you the rundown on what to expect and why you shouldn't worry.

The day broken down

A typical day may look something like this:

That’s not so bad right?

No, you don’t need a degree

Or a CSCS card or a driving licence for that matter.

The NRSWA Street Works courses are open to anyone from any background from the age of 16.

If you have street works or some construction experience, then great this will help you through the course.

If not let us know, as we can send reading materials to help you prepare, or offer extended courses, and also make the trainers aware you may need a bit of extra help.

Dyslexic, no problem

If you saw paperwork and exam, and thought you were out – no that is not the case.

Let us know on booking your NRSWA course and the trainer will know how to help you out and will be discrete about it too.

Just not academic

That’s perfectly fine too.

We will let you into a secret… a lot of those attending the course aren’t - so the trainers are used to this and know how to help.

Make sure to ask any and many questions you need during the course. If you don’t know something, chances are the others don’t know it either so you will be helping everyone.

If you think you may really struggle, just let us know and we can be prepared.

Will it be intimidating?

Not at all.

Groups are generally small, and everyone is from similar backgrounds and industries, so we find there is a lot of great camaraderie, especially during the 5-day course.

Its also a great way to make new contacts in the industry.

Our trainers have also been picked, not just on their knowledge and teaching skill, but the fact they are some of the nicest people you will meet, and so will put you right at ease.

Just let us know…

A common theme – but anything you think may hinder you on the NRSWA course just let us know before booking and in most situations, we can make it work.

Now good luck and enjoy your course.
