The CAT & Genny Course is divided into practical and theoretical sessions. During the theoretical component, the instructor will use a variety of methods to present information crucial to the understanding and safe operation of both the CAT and Genny machines.
The practical component of the course will provide participants with an opportunity to demonstrate they have internalized the information imparted during the theory portion of the course. Instructors will use a variety of methods to determine if the participant understands HSG47 guidelines, if they can correctly interpret street plans and if they are capable of adhering to industry best practices.

- LA (01) – Location & avoidance of underground apparatus
- Safe and effective operation of CAT and Genny machines
- Proper interpretation of street plans
- Locating and identifying underground services
- Working to HSG47 guidelines and best practices
- Selection and deployment of appropriate PPE
Upon completion of the CAT and Genny course, each participant will need to pass an assessment as well as take and pass a 20-question multiple choice online exam.
