One cannot simply decide to be a Streetworks Operative and get to work the next day. Anyone aspiring to work on local authority roads in the UK needs to be properly certified and the NRSWA Operative Streetworks course in Slough is how you do that. The Operative Streetworks course provides participants with the theoretical and practical knowledge they will need to perform road work safely and effectively. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive certificates and a SWQR photo ID card indicating your units of competence, both valid for a full 5 years.
The New Roads and Street Works Act of 1991 established standards that everyone performing work on public roadways in the UK must adhere to as well as a certification mechanism. Upon successful completion of the NRSWA Operative Streetworks course in Slough, participants will have the knowledge and practical skills to work in a safe and effective manner on single and dual-carriageways with speed limits up to 60 mph.
Those who successfully complete the NRSWA Operative Streetworks course will be awarded certification from one of these officially sanctioned certification bodies: City & Guilds, Lantra, Certification and Assessment Board for the Water Industry (CABWI) or the SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority). Certification will be valid for 5 years and the individual will also be registered with the Street Works Qualification Register or SWQR and received their SWQR photo ID, or the NRSWA ticket as its often referred to.
