If you are responsible for the planning and installation of streetworks signing, lighting and guarding in Berkshire, you will need to hold a relevant qualification from a nationally recognised certification body. The easiest way to achieve this aim is to enrol in an NRSWA Unit 01 Streetworks Course in Berkshire with us. During each course, participants are taught the following key skills:
- How to Produce an Accurate Site Plan With Positional Details for All Signing, Lighting and Guarding
- How to Prepare a List of All Required Equipment
- How to Install, Test, Commission and Decommission Temporary Traffic Lights
- How to Ensure That All Relevant Safety Regulations Are Complied With When Setting Up Signing, Lighting and Guarding
Once you have completed all of the above topics, you will complete a short assessment for each one, along with a final online timed exam. Assuming that everything goes well, you will then be qualified to perform these duties on streetworks sites anywhere in Berkshire as well as in other areas of England & Wales.
After you have successfully completed the various assessments and passed the online exam, which consists of multiple choice questions, you will be awarded a certificate from a nationally accredited body and issued with a new SWQR ID card. Your card and certificate will be valid for a period of 5 years and can be renewed by taking a reassessment at the appropriate time, either with us or with another service provider in the area.

Yes. Unit LA (previously known as unit 1) is for both Streetworks operatives and supervisors working on the roads, they do not require a separate qualification.
The NRSWA Streetworks Unit LA is specifically for those who need to located underground apparatus whilst working on the UK roads and highways. It is a key unit which you need if you intend to qualify in any of the Streetworks excavation and reinstatement units.
