NRSWA Streetworks Unit O1 Course in Birmingham

The Signing, Lighting and Guarding Streetworks course in Birmingham teaches aspiring Operatives how to deploy signing, lighting and guarding safety apparatus around their place of work on the local authority roads or paths.

The 1 day Unit O1 Signing, Lighting and Guarding course is also commonly referred to as SLG and was previously known as Unit 2. 

The SLG course in Derby will start off with going over all of the theory aspects of signing, lighting and guarding. This is delivered via PowerPoint presentations, videos, printouts, case studies and other methods. 
 
Then once the theory is completed attendees will head outside to get hands-on physical practice of putting out cones, signage, lights and barriers. At the end of the day, there will be an open book exam comprising 20 multiple-choice questions. 

 
Upon successful completion of the NRSWA Unit O1: Signing Lighting and Guarding training course in Birmingham candidates will: 
 
  • Possess a basic understanding of relevant regulations and standards.
  • Possess an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of SLG workers.
  • Be able to correctly assess hazards and risks on active job sites.
  • Know how to mimimise such risks to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Select suitable SLG-related equipment for a given job site.
  • Understand the proper sequence for setting out signs, cones and temporary signals.
  • By their actions protect pedestrians from vehicular and job site risks.
  • Understand the proper sequence for removing temporary controls.

Those who successfully complete the NRSWA SLG course in Birmingham will receive certification from Cabwi, City & Guilds, SQA, Lantra or another licensed certification body. Certification will be valid for 5 years and be accompanied by an SWQR card with your certification number, qualifications and expiry date.

The NRSWA Streetworks Unit LA is specifically for those who need to located underground apparatus whilst working on the UK roads and highways. It is a key unit which you need if you intend to qualify in any of the Streetworks excavation and reinstatement units.
