NRSWA Cat & Genny Course near Wandsworth

CAT and Genny machines are staples of road construction projects. They help construction professionals identify underground utilities and trace their path so they can avoid them while digging. If your job calls for you to operate CAT and Genny machines you'll need to be properly certified. The NRSWA CAT & Genny course in Wandsworth is where you get that certification.

If you have witnessed a road construction project taken to completion without incident you can thank the CAT & Genny operator. They make sure that any digging steers clear of underground utilities and other hazards that could cause power outages or disruptions to water or other services.

The CAT, or Cable Avoidance Tool, is just that (a tool for avoiding underground cables), but is also used to locate underground pipes. The CAT works in conjunction with the Genny, or Signal Generator, which emits a signal that reflects off of underground hazards, showing how far they extend. The CAT then picks up that signal and relays the information to the user.
The NRSWA CAT & Genny course is a 1-day course with instruction divided into morning and afternoon sessions. The morning session deals with the theoretical aspects of utility placement, identification and avoidance. While the afternoon class provides an opportunity for participants to get hands-on experience with the equipment on a mock jobsite.

At the end of the day participants will be tested to determine how much of the material they retained. The test will consist of 20 multiple-choice questions and participants will need to answer 80% (16 of 20) correctly to obtain certification.
If you fail the course for whatever reason you will be able to take it again, but you will need to wait at least 48 hours after being notified you failed to re-register. And you will need to pay the registration fee again.
