Upon completion of the CAT & Genny course, participants will:
- Know how to operate both the CAT and Genny machines safely and effectively.
- Be able to read and correctly interpret utility schematics.
- Be able to locate and correctly identify various underground hazards.
- Create their own schematic of the underground utilities they encounter.
- Be able to comply with HSG 47 regulations.
- Choose the appropriate PPE gear for each project.
The course will be divided into morning and afternoon sessions. The morning session will focus primarily on the theoretical aspects of working with these tools. While the afternoon session will provide hands-on experience with real CAT and Genny machines on a mock jobsite.
At the end of the day's instruction, there will be a multiple-choice exam designed to test retention. In order to obtain certification, participants must answer at least 80% of the questions correctly.
