NRSWA Streetworks Training for Infrastructure & Civil Engineering Firms

Infrastructure and civil engineering projects require careful planning, technical precision, and rigorous adherence to health and safety standards. Whether teams are involved in highway work, utility installation, drainage systems, telecoms infrastructure, or large-scale public works, operating within or near public roads brings significant responsibilities. NRSWA streetworks training for infrastructure & civil engineering firms provides infrastructure and civil engineering firms with the training and accreditation needed to complete projects safely and efficiently. It's not unusual for streetworks operations to involve excavations, temporary traffic management, reinstatement work, and coordination with local authorities. Without properly trained operatives and supervisors, even routine projects can create safety risks, traffic disruption, costly delays, and potential legal issues. Streetworks training helps ensure personnel understand the correct procedures for signing, lighting and guarding (SLG), excavation practices, and maintaining safe work environments in public areas.

Investing in accredited training demonstrates professionalism and helps firms meet the standards expected by councils, developers, and principal contractors across the UK construction sector.
This course is intended for both operatives and supervisors involved in infrastructure & civil engineering firms. The first half of the course covers the whys and hows of things like backfilling, reinstatement, SLG and more. The second half of the course provides participants with hands-on experience with relevant equipment and processes on a mock jobsite. Afterwards, there will be a multiple-choice exam. You must answer 80% of the questions correctly to obtain certification.

Certification will be provided by one of the following licensing bodies:

    • City & Guilds
    • The Certification and Assessment Board for the Water Industry (CABWI)
    • The Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA)
    • Lantra
If you fail the course, you will be given the opportunity to take the course over again. That's the whole course, not just the exam.
