NRSWA Streetworks Training for Drainage Sewer Contractors

NRSWA Streetworks is a practical, conversion-focused training provider for drainage contractors, sewer contractors, utility teams and employers who need staff qualified to work safely and legally on or near public highways.

Accredited training for drainage and sewer contractors

We have supported businesses that need recognised street works qualifications without unnecessary delay. We offer flexible course dates, on-site group options and training available nationwide so you can plan around live work, deadlines and renewal dates. If your team carries out excavation, reinstatement, signing, lighting, guarding, sewer repairs, drainage connections, utility work or highway works, the right NRSWA training helps you meet UK legislation, satisfy local authorities and keep projects moving. Our courses are designed around the requirements of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and support registration with the Street Works Qualifications Register, the recognised industry register for street works certification.

NRSWA Streetworks is a UK-wide training provider specialising in accredited Street Works and Highways training. We deliver NRSWA streetworks training for operatives and supervisors working across drainage, sewer, utilities, highways, telecoms, construction, infrastructure and civil engineering. Our role is to provide the necessary training, practical assessments and certification route needed for staff who work in the highway environment.
Street works are controlled because poor excavation, unsafe signing or incorrect reinstatement can create risk for road users, pedestrians, other workers, utility companies and the wider public.

Drainage and sewer contractors often need to open, work in, monitor or reinstate surfaces in and around the highway. That work can involve physical work on a street works site, excavation near underground apparatus, backfilling, compaction, surface reinstatement, and the safe management of traffic and pedestrians.
Our NRSWA course options are built to support these day-to-day site needs. NRSWA training covers operative and supervisor responsibilities, depending on the level required. An NRSWA operative usually needs to understand how to carry out the work safely and correctly. An NRSWA supervisor needs to understand how to oversee, monitor and sign off key activities in line with industry standards. We offer training for individual units and full course routes. These can include the NRSWA operative course, NRSWA supervisor courses, NRSWA reassessment and renewal training, Signing, Lighting & Guarding, Supervisor Monitoring Courses, Location & Avoidance of Underground Apparatus, Cat and Genny training, group training programmes, on-site employer training, weekend courses and flexible scheduling.

Our courses are designed around the requirements of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, commonly linked to the street works act framework. We also support candidates in understanding how their street works certification relates to the Street Works Qualifications Register.
