We provide NRSWA Streetworks courses for contractors involved in EV charger installations, electrical infrastructure and associated civil engineering works. Training can be arranged for operatives carrying out physical Streetworks as well as supervisors responsible for monitoring the work.

Successful candidates receive certification for the units completed and are registered on the Street Works Qualifications Register (SWQR), with qualifications valid for five years.
5-Day NRSWA Operative Course
Our full 5-day NRSWA Operative course is designed for people carrying out physical Streetworks. The course covers key activities including locating underground apparatus, signing, lighting and guarding, excavation, backfilling and the reinstatement of different highway surfaces. This can be particularly relevant to EV charging installation teams carrying out associated civils and excavation works.
5-Day NRSWA Supervisor Course
The 5-day NRSWA Supervisor course is for those responsible for planning, monitoring and supervising Streetworks and the operatives carrying them out. It covers the supervision of activities including excavation, reinstatement and signing, lighting and guarding. Supervisors do not carry out the physical works covered by the operative units.
Unit LA – Cat & Genny
The NRSWA Unit LA course covers the location and avoidance of underground apparatus. This is an important consideration when excavation is required as part of an EV charging installation and teams may be working around existing underground utilities and services.
Unit O1 – Signing, Lighting & Guarding
Unit O1 is the operative qualification covering signing, lighting and guarding. It is intended for operatives responsible for setting out and maintaining the appropriate signs, cones, barriers and other traffic-management arrangements associated with Streetworks.
Unit S1 – Monitoring Signing, Lighting & Guarding
Unit S1 is the corresponding supervisor qualification. It is intended for supervisors responsible for monitoring signing, lighting and guarding arrangements rather than physically setting them out.
NRSWA Reassessment
Existing Streetworks qualifications are valid for five years. We provide NRSWA reassessment courses for EV charging contractors whose existing qualifications are approaching expiry, helping operatives and supervisors maintain the Streetworks units required for their roles.

Yes. Unit LA (previously known as unit 1) is for both Streetworks operatives and supervisors working on the roads, they do not require a separate qualification.
The NRSWA Streetworks Unit LA is specifically for those who need to located underground apparatus whilst working on the UK roads and highways. It is a key unit which you need if you intend to qualify in any of the Streetworks excavation and reinstatement units.
