For people intending to physically carry out a range of Streetworks activities, the 5-day NRSWA Operative course provides training across key areas including locating underground apparatus, signing, lighting and guarding, excavation, backfilling and reinstatement.
5-Day NRSWA Supervisor Course
Our NRSWA Supervisor course is intended for those responsible for supervising and monitoring Streetworks rather than carrying out the physical work. If you're new to the industry, check whether your intended position requires operative or supervisor qualifications before booking.
Unit LA – Cat & Genny
Unit LA covers locating and avoiding underground apparatus. Candidates learn about identifying underground services and the safe use of cable-avoidance equipment.
Unit O1 – Signing, Lighting & Guarding
Unit O1 is for operatives responsible for setting out and maintaining signing, lighting and guarding arrangements associated with Streetworks, including signs, cones and barriers.
Unit S1 – Monitoring Signing, Lighting & Guarding
Unit S1 is designed for supervisors responsible for monitoring signing, lighting and guarding arrangements rather than physically setting them out.
NRSWA Reassessment
Already have an NRSWA qualification? Streetworks qualifications are valid for five years, and we provide reassessment courses for existing qualification holders approaching their expiry date.

Yes. Unit LA (previously known as unit 1) is for both Streetworks operatives and supervisors working on the roads, they do not require a separate qualification.
The NRSWA Streetworks Unit LA is specifically for those who need to located underground apparatus whilst working on the UK roads and highways. It is a key unit which you need if you intend to qualify in any of the Streetworks excavation and reinstatement units.
If you are not working on the roads you may require the EUSR qualification, or an in-house certification. If you are not sure please drop us a call 0333 301 0226.
