NRSWA Cat & Genny Course in West London

NRSWA Unit LA Location and avoidance of underground apparatus - Cat & Genny Course in West London.

Streetworks Unit LA Course West London

Road works that involve digging cannot proceed until a determination has been made as to whether underground hazards are present, and if so, where and what type. Road work crews assess underground hazards in the UK by using CAT and Genny tools. CAT stands for "Cable Avoidance Tool" and Genny is short for "Signal Generator". Essentially the CAT reveals the hazards and the Genny determines how far and in what direction they extend. Our NRSWA CAT & Genny course in West London provides road work professionals with the knowledge they need to operate these tools effectively.

Whether you hope to start a career in construction doing road work, or you want to enhance your skillset so that you can advance your construction career the NRSWA CAT & Genny course in West London can help.

The course takes place over 1 full day and is divided up into morning and afternoon sessions. During the morning session, the instructor will take you through the theoretical aspects of operating these machines. And during the afternoon session, you will have a chance to gain hands-on experience with real CAT and Genny equipment on a mock jobsite.

At the end of the day's lesson, there will be a multiple-choice exam comprising 20 questions. You must answer at least 16 of 20 correctly to obtain CAT & Genny certification. If you fail the test you can take it again, but you'll have to wait 48 hours to re-register and you will need to pay the fee a second time.
After completing this course participants will know how to:

• Safely operate both the CAT and Genny machines.
• Read and interpret utility service plans.
• Locate and correctly identify underground hazards.
• Produce an accurate schematic of said hazards.
• Maintain compliance with HSG 47 regulations.
• Select and deploy the proper PPE gear.
As the course unfolds the instructor will conduct ongoing assessments of participants' understanding of the material. At the conclusion of the day's lessons, there will be a multiple-choice exam consisting of 20 questions. In order to receive Cat & Genny Certification participants will need to answer at least 80% (16 out of 20) correctly.
