Property maintenance work rarely follows a fixed schedule. Emergency repairs, planned maintenance programmes and ongoing contractual obligations can make it difficult to release employees for training.
We help property maintenance businesses organise NRSWA qualifications around these demands, offering access to training centres nationwide and dedicated group courses for larger teams.
Our training covers the key Streetworks activities that may arise during external property maintenance, including excavation, reinstatement, locating underground apparatus and signing, lighting and guarding.
Companies with six or more delegates can enquire about group training at their own premises, subject to suitable facilities and course requirements.
Weekday, weekend and, where available, evening options provide flexibility when coordinating training.
Following successful assessment, candidates receive certification for the units achieved and registration on the Street Works Qualifications Register (SWQR). Qualifications are valid for five years.
5-Day NRSWA Operative Course
Our 5-day NRSWA Operative course provides training in physical Streetworks activities, including excavation, backfilling, reinstatement and signing, lighting and guarding. It is relevant to maintenance operatives undertaking qualifying highway works associated with underground service repairs, drainage connections and external infrastructure maintenance.
5-Day NRSWA Supervisor Course
For maintenance managers and supervisors overseeing Streetworks activities, our 5-day Supervisor course covers the monitoring and supervision of excavation, reinstatement and temporary signing, lighting and guarding. It is suitable for those responsible for overseeing contractors and operatives carrying out these activities.
Unit LA – Cat & Genny
External repairs sometimes require excavation near buried electricity cables, gas pipes, water mains or communications infrastructure. Unit LA covers locating and avoiding underground apparatus, helping maintenance teams understand the precautions involved when working near existing services.
Unit O1 – Signing, Lighting & Guarding
Where property maintenance activities affect public footways or highways, temporary signing and guarding may be required. Unit O1 is designed for operatives responsible for setting out and maintaining signs, cones, barriers and associated Streetworks arrangements.
Unit S1 – Monitoring Signing, Lighting & Guarding
Unit S1 is intended for supervisors responsible for monitoring signing, lighting and guarding arrangements. It can be relevant to maintenance supervisors overseeing qualifying Streetworks where temporary pedestrian or traffic-management arrangements are in place.
NRSWA Reassessment
NRSWA qualifications are valid for five years. Our reassessment courses help existing qualification holders renew the relevant units before expiry, allowing property maintenance businesses to plan training around ongoing contracts and workforce requirements.
