Keeping a surfacing crew productive often means coordinating training around scheduled road closures, resurfacing programmes and demanding project deadlines. Our training options are designed to make that process more manageable.
We arrange NRSWA Operative and Supervisor courses, individual Streetworks units and reassessments for employees involved in road surfacing, utility reinstatement and associated highway activities.
For companies with six or more delegates, dedicated group training may be available at your premises, subject to suitable facilities and course requirements. Weekday, weekend and, where available, evening options provide additional flexibility when planning training around operational commitments.
Following successful assessment, candidates receive certification for the units achieved and registration on the Street Works Qualifications Register (SWQR). NRSWA qualifications are valid for five years.
5-Day NRSWA Operative Course
Our full 5-day Operative course covers practical Streetworks activities including excavation, backfilling, reinstatement and signing, lighting and guarding. It is particularly relevant to contractors completing utility trench reinstatements, footway repairs and other qualifying Streetworks activities involving highway surfaces.
5-Day NRSWA Supervisor Course
Supervisors overseeing reinstatement teams need to understand how Streetworks activities should be monitored and assessed. This 5-day course covers supervisory responsibilities across excavation, reinstatement and temporary signing, lighting and guarding, making it relevant to those managing Streetworks surfacing operations.
Unit LA – Cat & Genny
Before breaking ground, identifying underground apparatus is an important safety consideration. Unit LA covers locating and avoiding buried services using appropriate detection techniques and equipment, particularly relevant where surfacing projects involve excavation or ground disturbance.
Unit O1 – Signing, Lighting & Guarding
Unit O1 focuses on the safe installation and maintenance of temporary signing, lighting and guarding arrangements. This can be relevant when operatives are responsible for setting out signs, cones and barriers around Streetworks reinstatement activities.
Unit S1 – Monitoring Signing, Lighting & Guarding
Designed for supervisors, Unit S1 covers monitoring temporary signing, lighting and guarding arrangements. It supports those responsible for overseeing these arrangements during qualifying Streetworks activities.
NRSWA Reassessment
Already qualified? Streetworks qualifications generally require reassessment within their five-year validity period. We provide reassessment courses to help experienced surfacing operatives and supervisors maintain the relevant units before their existing qualifications expire.
Whether you're preparing a new reinstatement crew or arranging renewals for experienced employees, our team can help you select suitable NRSWA training and organise courses around your business requirements.
