The NRSWA Unit 01 Streetworks Course in Mitcham teaches participants the right way to set up signing, lighting and guarding (SLG) on road work construction sites, as well as introducing them to other important equipment such as the Cable Avoidance and Signal Generator tools. If your job requires you to establish temporary SLG on road jobsites you will need to be properly trained and certified. This Unit 01 Streetworks Course provides both.
You are not required to have any specific knowledge to take the NRSWA Unit 01 Streetworks Course in Mitcham. But a passing knowledge of the Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) and the principles of SLG could make things easier.
Participants who successfully complete the Unit 01 course will be able to:
- Establish effective and compliant signing, lighting and guarding on road work sites.
- Understand the concepts behind effective traffic control on active worksites.
- Interpret information from the CAT and Genny tools.
- Choose the correct PPE for a given situation.
- Remove SLG components in the proper manner and order to avoid problems.
This course is delivered over the course of a single day with instruction divided into morning and afternoon sessions. The morning session will focus on the theories behind traffic management and introduce necessary equipment. The afternoon session will provide participants with a chance to get some hands-on experience with the relevant equipment.
At the end of the day's instruction, there will be a multiple choice exam designed to test retention of the information imparted during the course work. The exam will comprise 20 multiple-choice questions and participants will need to answer at least 16 of the 20 correctly to earn certification.
If a person should fail the test they can take the course over but they'll need to wait at least 48 hours to re-register and they will need to pay a 2nd registration fee.
