There are no prerequisites for taking the NRSWA Unit 01 Streetworks course in Windsor, though it would be helpful if you had some level of familiarity with the CAT (Cable Avoidance Tool). That said, course participants will learn:
- How to locate, identify and track underground utilities
- How to operate the Cable Avoidance Tool and related equipment
- Established practices and regulation involved in working around underground hazards
- Appropriate PPE gear as well as health and safety regulations associated with streetworks.
The NRSWA Unit 01 Streetworks course in Windsor is a 1-day course divided into morning and afternoon sessions. During the morning session, your instructor will focus on technical aspects of the work. While the afternoon session will provide participants with a chance to gain hands-on experience with the CAT and other relevant tools and equipment.
At the end of the day's instruction, there will be a multiple-choice exam comprising 20 questions. The exam is specifically designed to test your retention of the information imparted during the morning and afternoon sessions. In order to obtain Unit 01 certification, you will need to answer at least 16 of 20 questions correctly.
If, for whatever reason, you do not pass the exam, you are free to take the course again. However, you will need to wait at least 48 hours after failing to re-register, and you will need to pay the registration fee a second time.
