Utility installation contractors frequently work across multiple sites, often with tight project schedules and different qualification requirements depending on the work being undertaken.
We help businesses coordinate NRSWA training for their workforce, whether they're preparing operatives for a new infrastructure contract, qualifying additional installation teams or ensuring supervisors hold the appropriate Streetworks units.
Training is available through our nationwide network of centres, helping contractors arrange courses close to their employees or project locations.
For companies with six or more delegates, dedicated group training can also be arranged at suitable premises, subject to course and facility requirements. Weekday, weekend and, where available, evening options help businesses plan training around installation programmes.
Successful candidates receive certification for the units achieved and registration on the Street Works Qualifications Register (SWQR), with qualifications valid for five years.
5-Day NRSWA Operative Course
Our 5-day NRSWA Operative course covers essential physical Streetworks activities, including locating underground apparatus, signing, lighting and guarding, excavation, backfilling and reinstatement. It is particularly relevant to operatives installing underground utility networks, excavating trenches and reinstating highway surfaces following new service connections.
5-Day NRSWA Supervisor Course
The 5-day NRSWA Supervisor course is designed for those responsible for supervising and monitoring Streetworks activities. It covers supervisory responsibilities relating to excavation, reinstatement and signing, lighting and guarding, making it suitable for supervisors overseeing utility installation teams and infrastructure projects.
Unit LA – Cat & Genny
Before installing new underground services, contractors must consider the location of existing buried infrastructure. Unit LA covers locating and avoiding underground apparatus, including the use of cable avoidance equipment to help identify potential hazards before excavation begins.
Unit O1 – Signing, Lighting & Guarding
Utility installations often require temporary arrangements to protect pedestrians, road users and workers. Unit O1 is for operatives responsible for setting out and maintaining signs, cones, barriers and other signing, lighting and guarding arrangements associated with Streetworks.
Unit S1 – Monitoring Signing, Lighting & Guarding
Unit S1 is intended for supervisors responsible for monitoring signing, lighting and guarding arrangements. It is relevant to those overseeing temporary traffic and pedestrian safety measures during qualifying utility installation works.
NRSWA Reassessment
NRSWA Streetworks qualifications are valid for five years. We provide reassessment courses for existing qualification holders approaching expiry, helping utility installation contractors plan renewals and maintain the relevant qualifications across their workforce.
